Chicken Pox: Varicella-Zoster- Its Epidemiology Grand Canyon University A communicable disease that affects any age group is Varicella, or more commonly known as Chicken Pox. This contagious disease is caused by the Varicella-Zoster Virus. A person who has not had the virus, or has been vaccinated with chicken pox can get the disease. Symptoms of chicken pox include high fever, tiredness, loss of appetite, and headaches. Chicken pox causes fluid filled blisters that show up on the face, chest and back, then spreading onto the rest of the body. The fluid filled blisters eventually turns into scabs as the disease progresses. A person who received the chicken pox vaccine can get the virus, but with a mild case of the symptoms such as a†¦show more content†¦If the patient is on an air borne or droplet precautions, masks are to worn by staff and visitors. Finally, and the most important thing, is proper hygiene, such as washing hands before and after care for the patients and attending to their area. Within the household, it is necessary for t hose that would have a higher risk of complications from the virus to not come in contact with those that have been infected. With the proper health resources, knowledge on how to control the infection from spread is as important as tackling the virus itself. The epidemiologic triangle of Chicken pox includes the Virus as its agent. This virus is called the Varicella-Zoster virus. As any virus, it cannot live or grow on its own, therefore it infects other viable cells in the body, therefore becoming contagious. The second vertices, the host, of chicken pox would be the infected human. A person would not initially know they have been infected with the virus through its initial symptoms, as the more physical and notifiable symptoms of chickens pox, the blisters, do not show until 1 to 2 days after becoming infected. Hamlet On TV Essay Example For Students

Hamlet On TV Essay Hamlet has been produced in a variety of ways, but making a movie out of Hamletis very different. When producing Hamlet on film there are some liberties thatare taken for either artistic benefit or to keep it shorter. These liberties areup to the directors interpretation of Hamlet. The directorsinterpretations make each Hamlet production different. Unique differences makeeach Hamlet interesting. When I watch a production of Hamlet I find myselflooking at the dialogue. I try to remember how Shakespeare wrote it and thencompare it to how the actors are performing it. The dialogue in Hamlet is keyand the success of a production depends on having it performed successfully. Inthe Mel Gibson production they add a lot to the dialogue especially in thebeginning. The film begins at the funeral of King Hamlet rather than on thewatch with Marcellus and Bernardo. The Mel Gibson version also takes a lot ofdialogue out of Hamlet including the whole idea of Fortinbras. He is not in the1990 production so that it is shorter. As for the 1964 version where AnthonyHopkins plays Claudius, the dialogue is almost exactly the way Shakespeare wroteit. In the Laurence Olivier version the dialogue is very near the original. Theproduction is artistically narrated rather than all being said aloud. I thinkthis production was very interesting and provides more explanation of Hamlet asyou hear some of his great speeches as his thoughts rather than speech. The 1948and the 1964 production were very near the actual dialogue while the 1990version with Gibson had several differences. All three were very good but thedialogue in the Laurence Olivier production was much better. Character portrayalcan make one Hamlet production better than another. In the Mel Gibson version ofHamlet Laertes seems like he is weak. The actor playing him did not have acommanding presence and he had a soft voice. However, the Laertes in the 1964production was strong and kept a demeanor that commanded respect. The Laertes inthe early production in 1948 was not all that prominent in the first scenes butat the end he became a big part of the play like he should. As for Hamlet,Laurence Olivier was the best Hamlet. He caught the concept well and performedit marvelously. I did enjoy the Hamlet Mel Gibson played well because when heinsults the king the insults seem more pronounced and easy to understand. MelGibsons played the insane part of Hamlet well too. I think this is the bestpart of his character. His face and understanding of the text made it seem morerealistic than when I read it. The Hamlet in the 1964 production was plain; hedid not have any uniqueness but did play the part well. All three Poloniuses inthese productions played well as they supported the role of the king. ThePolonius in the Gibson version though did an extremely good performance. Hispronunciation of the text and his facial expression as well as his body languagewas absolutely marvelous. By far Glenn Close played the best queen she playedthe innocent part well. She was playful at the beginning and her characterdegenerated to the sad ending. She did everything right; the facial expressions,the body language, the text; she did it all well. The casts of all the filmswere great. The cast of Gibson was grand and Oliviers cast was good as well,but the cast in which Anthony Hopkins played in 1964 was the best. They fittogether well and complimented each other. The character portrayal in Gibsonsversion was fun while the portrayal of characters in the Laurence Olivierproduction was great. TheGibson version is obvious of this as it starts with a scene Shakespeare neverwrote. It started with the funeral of the dead king. They also added a marriagecelebration scene. These two scenes help people who have not studied the text tounderstand what has happened in the play. To put these two scenes in they tookout Act 1 Scene 1 from the original text. The Gibson version also took out muchof the middle scenes but it still was enjoyable. The Laurence Olivier versionused narration to make the scene seem like he was thinking and we could hear histhoughts. It allowed him to use his face to express a whole lot more since hewas not talking as the speeches were read. The 1964 version kept pretty close tothe scenes but changed a little. The ghost scenes did not actually show a ghost,not even when Hamlet met with it. They shined a light on the faces of the actorsto make it seem like a ghost had shown up of camera. It was artistic, but Iprefer to see the ghost. The scene changes in all three were good and did notchange the play enough to be something other than Shakespeares Hamlet. Allthree version of Hamlet that I watched were interesting. Overall I enjoyed theMel Gibson version the best. It had the best sets; it was a castle. One of myfavorite actors is Mel Gibson so I was anxious to see how well he would do asHamlet. The costumes in the play were very nice and were used as and artistictool to show that Hamlet was mad. The queen was excellent and very enjoyable towatch. I like this Polonius best of all because he seemed so concerned withstanding in the court that he showed little care for his Ophelia. The Hamletthat Laurence Olivier played was excellent to the end. When I read the book Iimagined Hamlet being just like he played him. The use of dark scenery in thisversion did well to express the depressing mood of Hamlet and the entire stateof Denmark. The character interaction was great, as it was less obvious in thisversion that they were scripted lines. These old fashion actors produced a goodold fashion quality. The 1964 version was decent. I liked how loud and it seemedalmost boisterous Anthony Hopkins played Cluadius. It used the same dark effectsthat the 1948 production used, but it was also in color; that is always a goodthing. A lot was different in the forty year that was between the productions ofthese Hamlets. They were enjoyable and showed me how Hamlet can be interpreteddifferently.

Macbeth(c.1607), written by William Shakespeare, i Essay s the tragic tale of Macbeth, a virtuous man, corrupted by power and greed. This tagedy could in fact be called A Tale of Two Theories. One theory suggests that the tragic hero, Macbeth, is led down an unescapable road of doom by an outside force, namely fate in the form of the three witches. The second suggests that there is no supernatural force working against Macbeth, which therefore makes him responsible for his own actions and inevitable downfall. It must be remembered that Macbethis a literary work of art, and as a peice of art is open to many different interpretations, none of them right and none of them wrong. But the text of the play seems to imply that Macbeth is indeed responsible for his own actions which are provoked by an unwillingness to listen to his own conscience, the witches, and his ambition. First, Macbeth ignores the voice of his own psyche. He knows what he is doing is wrong even before he murders Duncan, but he allows Lady Macbeth and greed to cloud his judgement. In referring to the idea of the murder of Duncan, Macbeth first states,We will proceed no further in this business(I.vii.32). Yet, after speaking with Lady Macbeth he recants and proclaims,I am settled, and bend up/Each corporal agent to this terrible feat(I.vii.79-80). There is nothing supernatural to be found in a man being swayed by the woman he loves, as a matter of fact this action could be perceived as quite the opposite. Second, the witches have to be dispelled as a source of Macbeths misfortune before the latter theory can be considered. It is admittedly strange that the weird sisters first address Macbeth with,All hail, Macbeth! hail to thee Thane of Cawdor!(I.iii.49), a title which not even Macbeth is aware he has been awarded. Even stranger is the third witch calling to Macbeth,All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter!(I.iii.50). However as stated by Bradley,No connection of these announcements with any actions of his was even hinted by the withches(232). Some are still not convinced though of the witches less than supernatural role; nevertheless, Macbeth appears throughout the play to be completely aware 3 of his actions, as opposed to being contolled by some mystic force. The effect of the witches on the action of the play is best summarized by these words: while the influences of the Witches prophecies on Macbeth is very great, it is quite clearly shown to be an influnce and nothing more.(Bradley 232) Most important to the theory that Macbeth is reponsible for his own actions would be a point that the infamous witches and Macbeth agree upon. Such an element exists in the form of Macbeths ambiton. In the soliloquy Macbeth gives before he murders Duncan, he states, . ..I have no spur/To prick the sides of intent, but only/Vaulting ambition,.. .(I.vii.25-27). Are these the words of a man who is merely being led down a self dustructive path of doom, with no will of his own? Or are they the words of a man who realizes not only the graveness of his actions, but, also the reasons behind them? The answer is clear, Macbeth is a totally cognizant principal and not a mindless puppet. Later the head witch, Hecate, declares,Hath been but for a wayward son,/Spiteful and wrathful, who, as others do,/Loves for his own ends, not for you. In a study done by the Elliot Institute in Springfield, Illinois, women that had abortions were studied eight weeks after the procedure. Race And Religion In The Kite Runner English Literature Essay After reading the two novels I figured out how people lived with racism all around them in all forms and it only hurts more to know that such people still exist around us. To Kill a Mocking Bird covers various themes which are unified into the moral landscape of a small town. As we go through it slowly and gradually we find out about the good and bad times spent by the people living the era, its hypocrisies, its prejudices and racial discrimination amongst the people of their own kind. A more diversified look is further unified when we take a deeper look into the other novel The Kite Runner also based on the discrepancies in race and religion and the level of thinking between the two, though not blood related but brothers brought up under a same father. Race and religion being the only differences between both beings, apart from that nothing could pull them apart except for God. Racism is a result of human ignorance, social injustice, class differences, love and tension and lack of s elf education. The evidences in both the novels are carefully placed noticing not to hinder the originality of the theme. The novels broaden the readers mind, forcing them to analyze their own racial orthodoxies towards are own fellow beings. Racial discrimination is always considered to be a result of personal upbringing but this is definitely not the case when we look into the deeper side of the novels. In both the novels the author highlights the topic of racism together keeping in mind the basic theory of inhumanity against each other. Race has always been a big issue in all eras. Forming perceptions of ones self against people with different color is not too hard; going through differences and disputes at every stage of life is how people mainly develop racism not because they can inherit it from their parents. By the quote Did you know Hassan and you fed from the same breast? Did you know that, Amir agha? Sakina, her name was. She was fair, blue-eyed Hazara woman from Bhamiyan and she sang you old wedding songs. They say there is a brother hood between people whove fed from the same breast. Did yo u know that? Baba expresses his inner feelings about the two boys living their lives together, telling them that nothing should pull them apart (Hosseini, 64-65). As they have been fed from the same breasts and they share a special brotherhood bond, and brothers have nothing different from each other, no color, no religion, no race, no cast should divide them apart. Racial discrimination and prejudices is highlighted boldly in the novel as well as the quotes, in the novel it definitely does not idealize the black community. It defines the virtues of the Black community which the Whites lack, free from hypocrisies, they are shown to be caring, upright people and humble. Though the blacks are not found to be immoral, but still in certain conditions blacks are the only race which come in limelight of the masses, If a white woman sees two black men walking towards her and turns the other way, shes a racist. Well I got scared and didnt say anything, and the next thing I knew, I had a gun shoved in my head!(Crash,2004). Evidence is incorporated over here where it shows that race is still what matters in most conditions. People have this perception that black or of other ethnic minorities are bad and evil, whatever they do is bad, is against them, in some societies blacks and browns are considered to be thugs and criminals since the day they are born, while on the other side whites are considered to be the most well educated, civilized and morally suited people in the society. The society itself has made it hard for young men/adults of ethnic minority and casts to break free of this stereotype. Class status which had built up to make much of the adults world at that time also involved the young children in both the novels critiquing the moral perplexity of the young children giving evidence to the fact that, even though they were young they still had knew what was going on all around them. Scout being a girl in the novel To Kill a Mocking Bird also understood the scene and had an idea about what was going all around her, in school and in her small town. Social Inequality was practiced with great dedication in both the novels, for example Aunt Alexandra refusing Scout to consort with Walter Cunningham just because the Cunninghams belong at the bottom of the white social scale. The white community in general the Cunninghams are racially prejudiced who leads the angry mob to the jail where Tom Robinson who was accused of raping a girl was kept before his trial. After realizing that he was the one who helped him and his family, he calls off the mob. After that, it is one of the Cunninghams in the jury who supports Atticus delaying the verdict and the Cunninghams were proved to be prejudice, ignorant and violent but there is something about them which makes them deserve respect. A similar contrast is made when the Negroes are shown as a warm close knit community Scout refers to them as a solid mass of colored people. We as a society have gotten so emotionally complicated that we have developed a prevalent selfishness and laziness towards understanding others. It is easier to label someone as a gang-banger, because it dehumanizes them (Crash, 2004). The quote over here from the movie says how easy we have made to racially discriminate someone just to make ourselves feel better. The feeling of degrading someone who is not from the same race as us is overwhelming; the concept of labelling a black person or a person from a different indigenous group has been continued from an era where maybe not even our fathers were born in. Similar to the quotes from the movie, there is a good number of evidences from the novel out of which a few are mentioned here. Hassan is emotionally attached to Amir as a friend and considering him his brother. Hassan puts his life on the line for Amir, winning the kite fight competition was not until Amir returns with the losing kite to Baba in order to do so Hassan puts his l ife on the line not thinking about the consequences he has to face to redeem the kite for Amir. In the process he has to face Assef who physically and mentally abuses him, racially tortures him calling him a flat nosed Hazara. Hassan never did let go of his love and affection for Amir and Baba though Baba and Amir both mistreated him for being a Hazara boy and a low cast boy. Though Baba wanted to show his affection for him, he could only do it indirectly by either taking Hassan out with Amir for drives or paying for his cleft lip surgery. The time has come/to say fairs fair/to pay the rent/to pay our share (Midnight Oil, 1987). These lines taken from the song Beds are Burning, provides us with evidences that try to think from a different perspective of not judging people only by how they look or whats their color is. It says try getting into other peoples skin and pay for the sins that we have made being racists Amir and Baba had committed sins that they tried to redeem being in lo ve with each other. The ink is black, the page is white/Together we learn to read and write/A child is black, a child is white/The whole world looks upon the sight, a beautiful sight/And now a child can understand/That this is the law of all the land, all the land(Three Dog Night,1957). The verses describes prejudice discrimination amongst black and white which have now been surely cleaned off, it says that now black and white will work together no one can be on its own, we all have to work in collaboration with each other. The perception of racial discrimination no longer exists is what the verses portray but in the novel To Kill a Mocking Bird Tom Robinson who is accused of raping a white girl. He represents the mocking bird, innocent, loving and caring trying to make everyone happy just like the mocking bird itself which does not harm anyone but sings beautiful songs makes them happy and heals their wounds. Tom Robinson was just accused for a crime which he did not commit but because he was black and from the minorities the prejudice still continued. Finally racism not only appeals the greater audience but also gives a broader aspect in our current times, but it should not be the way it is. To a great extent lack of self education, ignorance and personal issues all lead to prejudices and racial discrimination. Even though more and more people are being educated every day, more connections are being made all over the world in all walks of life, still discrimination and racism prevails. Ignorant human beings amongst us roam around freely, still practicing the cruel act of racism. Who in my opinion should be punished for the sins they are committing, sins which are definitely their deeds and non-redeemable. Being prejudice or a racist is no one mans job and it is definitely not inherited but the concept is what matter, teachings and ideas from our ancestors about black being bad and white being the good is what is still killing our future generations which are indeed getting ready for this difficult race and fight. To accomplish thi s task our generation and the one coming ahead of us will certainly have to erase the stereotype of being and living in a racist society. All men are same, be they be white, black, brown or yellow all our of one bred, we all have the same rights and we for sure have the same mind, the only difference is the way one thinks and judges the other. If only people could start erasing the differences that are created by lack of self education, ignorance and social injustice.

Rousseau starts his discourse with the quote, â€Å"What is natural has to be investigated not in beings that are depraved, but in those that are good according to nature† (Aristotle. Politics. II). It is this idea that Rousseau uses to define his second discourse. Rousseau begins his story of human nature by â€Å"setting aside all the facts† (132). The facts of the natural state of humanity are not necessary to determine the natural essence of human nature, and adding facts based on man’s condition in society does not show man’s natural condition. The facts don’t matter because to understand the essence of human nature requires looking to how man is in a completely natural state. Since man is no longer in this state, to determine this state means ignoring how man is now and focusing on man’s traits in a state completely different than the one man is in now. This is what Rousseau tries to do in creating his imagined state of nature. For Rous seau, the story of the state of nature is not meant to be used as a critique of human nature but as a way to discover the essence of human nature. Rousseau starts his discourse by sets aside all the facts to understand the natural state of man untainted by the traits of man in society. He states â€Å"the inquiries that may be pursued regarding this subject ought not be taken for historical truths, but only for hypothetical and conditional reasonings; better suited to elucidate the nature of things than to show their genuine origin† (132). The subject is the genuine nature of man. To discover this nature the facts cannot help because they do not look to the nature of man in his original state but to the man of now. Learning Expirience Essay

Experience can shape our behavior and personality. More over our experiences contribute to our development over time. Learning process occurs when we experience situation that have negative or positive effect on us. In this essay I will briefly describe my personal learning experience; I will also define the concept of learning, and will provide analysis of what I have learned from this experience. In addition my essay will include the analysis and application of classical and operant conditioning as well as cognitive- social learning. My Experience Every person’s identity is formed by the various roles that they perform in the world. In fact becoming a mother is one more such role and it has psychological implications. Four month ago I became a mother to a wonderful, my first baby boy. The experience of giving birth, as well as being home with a newborn for the first few weeks was overwhelming, painful, and emotionally tiring. I am 25 years old and was so exciting to becoming a mother, however when my son was born for the first few weeks I have experienced anxiety, stress, depression, fear and even anger. It has been almost 4 month and my baby is my life, I cannot imagine how I was getting frustrated and feeling all those things when my baby is my joy. Today I am still tired, and stressed, however anger and depression is gone. I have learned from this experience that I need to accept the change in my life, and avoid becoming frustrated. Being prepared for things to be different could have prepared me to deal with situation differently. Also positive attitude should have been my best ally instead of being afraid and having negative thoughts. At last I have learned from this experience that I need to try to develop a new and balanced lifestyle that takes into consideration all areas of my new life. Learning Learning is the process whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of experience (David A. Kolb, 1984). As we learn, we alter the way we perceive our environment, the way we interpret the incoming stimuli, and therefore the way we interact, or behave (Carpenter & Huffman, 2012). Learning through Classical Conditioning One of the best-known characteristics of behavioral learning theory is classical conditioning. Classical conditioning is a learning process that occurs through associations between an environmental stimulus and a naturally occurring stimulus (Carpenter & Huffman, 2012). There are basic principles of classical conditioning process. Such as the unconditioned stimulus (UC) and unconditioned response (UR), as well as conditioned stimulus (CS) and conditioned response (CR) (Carpenter & Huffman, 2012). The unconditioned stimulus is one that unconditionally, naturally, and automatically triggers a response (â€Å"The propositional nature of human associative learning,† 2009). For example, baby crying made me feel sad and frustrated, and baby smiling made me feel loved, happy and positive. For instance, when I saw my bay for the first time the feeling of pain was simply gone. As I spend those first weeks with my baby although I have had mood swings and feeling of anger sometimes, however every time I looked at my baby I naturally felt better and calmer. The unconditioned response is the unlearned response that occurs naturally in response to the unconditioned stimulus. For example, feel of love in response to my baby smile is unconditioned stimulus. The conditioned stimulus is previously neutral stimulus that, after becoming associated with the unconditioned stimulus, eventually comes to trigger a conditioned response (â€Å"The propositional nature of human associative learning,† 2009). For example, when my baby cried I felt frustration and in the same time my husband was trying to explain me something thus my husband voice would be conditioned stimulus. Although the sound of my husband voice is unrelated to my baby’s cry and feeling of frustration, if the sound of his voice was paired multiple times with the baby’s cry, the sound would eventually trigger the conditioned response. The conditioned response is the learned response to the previously neutral stimulus. For instance, feeling frustrated when I heard my husband talking to me. In my view classical conditioning is a useful technique that can be applied by creating a positive environment to help people to overcome anxiety, fear and frustration. For example, a situation like my baby’s crying with pleasant surroundings would have helped me to learn new associations. Instead of feeling anxious, frustrated and angry in that situation, I learn to stay relax and calm (Carpenter & Huffman, 2012). Operant Conditioning Operant conditioning is a technique of learning that happens through rewards and punishments for behavior. Through operant conditioning, an association is made between a behavior and a consequence for that behavior (â€Å"The propositional nature of human associative learning,† 2009). The elimination of an undesirable outcome can be used to decrease or prevent undesirable behavior. Feeling frustrated, being angry with situation simply led to more stress and created more problems for myself emotionally and physically. Positive reinforcement: Getting to know my baby, his first smile and lough created a positive and happy environment thus increasing my positive behavior. To conclude learning process revolves around human life. People learn something new every single day, thus creating new experiences and knowledge. Self-development and growth naturally occurs through learning.

In contrast with the tragic hero, modern hero does not have to be of a high estate and may not be born noble, but rather an ordinary person. He is not born in a noble way. In most cases, the misfortunes of a modern hero may not result to his death. The occurrences to a modern hero may not result to in an epiphany of awareness or knowledge (Misra 63). However, a modern hero may have a flaw that result to a misfortune. An example is Martha Stewarts. She was not born in a noble way and did not grow up living in a noble way. She was taught ordinary jobs of cooking, sewing and gardening at an exceptionally young age. She would work part time to pay for her expenses, and she became famous when she began to work as a model. She had a retail store, wrote for the New York TTimes, branches in publishing, merchandizing and providing products in many different areas (Crutcher 97). A trait that was common to a tragic hero is seen in Marthas downfall that started from a slip of moral judgement. Her flaw and blunder was becoming greedy for more power and money that overrode her trusty judgement. Her fatal flaw was greed and dishonesty. She also committed a crime in misleading a federal investigator and obstructing an investigation that landed her in prison. In our culture, we value our heroes from their achievement, success in business ventures and leadership positions. We do not value the underdog as a hero, but we value the strong and the favourite (David 46). Intelligence is also a valued trait in our modern hero. It is the abilities of self-awareness, planning and ability in problem solving. For a tragic hero, a flaw could cause a misfortune that would lead to the death. For a modern hero, the flaw would lead to a misfortune that would only result to awareness and not death of a hero. The case of Martha flaw just caused a power trip because of all of her achievements, but it did not cause death to her (Warner 52). A modern villain can be compared to a tragic hero in that they both have flaw, mistakes and blunder. The characters tend to have a negative effect on other characters. In both the stories, we find that the setting in which they are portrayed does not exactly affect, but rather reflect the demeanor and lifestyle of the protagonists. It is rather difficult to establish the Gothic-ness of the backdrop of Faulkners story. True, the house of Miss Emily Grierson is palatial and reminiscent of lost splendor, derelict and almost haunted by the lone resident, but the real darkness and epic grandeur that befits a truly Gothic tale is missing. The same can be said about Poe â€Å"The Tell-Tale Heart† too: it certainly lacks the grandeur that is expected in the setting of an epic tale, the story having unfolded in a common dwelling house in London. However, what the stories lack in the way of a backdrop, they make up in the narrative and characterization. Bruce Tuckman’s 1965. Forming, storming, norming and performing- team development model Bruce Tuckman’s theory was a helpful explanation of team development and behaviour. He believed that there was stages when a team come together and they was the forming, storming, norming, and performing there is also adjourning and transforming also known as the mourning stage These stages worked like this: The first stage is forming and this was the team being assembled, at the beginning each individual tend to behave independently, until they start shaping in to a team. The team is coming together and trying to figure out why they are there or what they have to do. They spend time collecting information and bonding. The second stage is the storming stage, in this stage the team are aware of the task and begin to suggest different ideas and what they are going to do and how it works. This is just the stage of ideas and talking about the task. This is also when a team leader may be formed to lead the group. Time is spent addressing the task working out what they have to do and then brainstorming all their ideas for the task. The third stage is the norming stage, this is where the team finish the storming stage and move towards working on the task after putting all their ideas together and agreeing on what they are going to do and work out an effective plan, allowing the contribution of each member. At this point team leader can also take a step back as each individual team member takes more responsibility. In this stage time is used putting ideas together and agreeing and moving towards working on the task. The fourth stage is the performing, performing their ideas to complete the task given and have a final piece, this is the bit where they actually do it and try to complete it. The time is spent completing the task, working together. The last stage is the adjourning and transforming also known as mourning. This is the final stage; this is the breakup of the team, where the team leave as they have completed the task given. Example of Bruce Tuckman’s theory: classroom of year ones on their 1st day. The year ones have been put into a group, this  is where they meet and talk for the first time, this would be the forming stage, as the group is being formed and shaped. The teacher then gave them a task. Each child had to give an idea to help to complete the task, this is the storming stage as different ideas where put together to help complete the task. The year ones then had to decide all together what ideas they liked and agree on which one they was going to use for the task, this is the norming stage where they all decide and agree and start to work on the task, also having to agree on the rules which is given for the task. The fifth stage is the performing stage where they all perform the task given and the decisions are collaborative for the final piece. The final stage is the adjourning and transforming stage where the children go home after completing their task and the group is broken up as the task is now finished.

The roaring 20's, a definitive time for change in the world. An introducing to new technologies and philosophies is sweeping the country and with it a change that is met with opposition. A notable event that affects everyone, is the infamous â€Å"Monkey Trials.† The lasting effect of a mockingly laughable monkey trial, was felt in many areas of everybody’s lives. Specifically the impact felt was seen through media, changes in personal intellect and the transition from traditional to modern values.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã¢â‚¬Å"Not only was the trial heavily covered; it changed its nature to accommodate the coverage.† This case drastically altered the scale and the hype of any media until that time. The presiding judge, allowed radio lines into the courtroom, paused proceedings to allow photographers time to snap a shot, and even moved the entire trial outside to allow every person a chance to view it. The fact that this â€Å"media event† was probably the most heavily covered hype of it’s time, but that the hype became more important than the trial itself. â€Å"The real trial, it was agreed, was taking place in the newspapers. The things the jury never got exposed to got the heaviest emphasis around the nation.† Newspapers and magazines carried innumerable articles and cartoons on the case, and telegraph operators wired stories to Europe and Australia. For the first time news of an American trial was nationally broadcast by radio, while thousands of pe ople came to Dayton itself to take in what became a virtual carnival, complete with sideshows.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã¢â‚¬Å"Modern life had become too complex for ordinary householders to get along with the help of experts.† During the trial, Clarence Darrow saw his defense as a â€Å"vehicle for affecting the public,† one that which had little opportunity of winning, but in due course tooks it’s affect among those who heard his argument. Mr. Darrow, in a risky move, brought in outside experts to testify which, â€Å"was not only an affront to local pride but a relatively risky new procedure in law.† The times changing, with technology and scientology among other things, saw the need for the everyday person to have his/her life explained to them by an expert. The case changed a lot of the purpose of a normal person being able to consider complex thoughts and discriminate logical possibilities without a broken down explanation.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã¢â‚¬Å"Consequently, the primary importance of family, home, church, and local community began to recede in national life.

He falls in love with Dr. Iannis’ daughter, Pelagia, the moment he lays eyes on her. â€Å"What he thanked Megalo Velicarios for what that in the doctor’s house he first set eyes on Pelagia, the doctor’s daughter.† (21) He inflicts a significant amount of change in Pelagia’s character by catching her attention, and he becomes her first love. Their relationship end as Mandras’s leaves for war, and Pelagia becomes a victim of misunderstanding. â€Å"Unfortunately, my dream of Pelagia was better than Pelagia herself. I can see and hear that she is disgusted with her returning hero, and I knew before I went that I was not good enough for her.† (141) Mandras discovers that he is an unworthy suitor for Pelagia, and he knows that their relationship has ended once she develops a fascination for Captain Antonio Corelli.
